The stairs
Worn carpet covered every step. It all came up: carpet, pad, tack strips and staples, down to the subfloor. Each step got a new wood-look tread, the risers were finished in crisp white, and the landing was laid in matching plank so the stairs flow straight into the rooms above and below.

Upstairs, the loft and hallway were taken down to bare subfloor and laid in one continuous run of waterproof luxury vinyl plank. No breaks between spaces, and clean edges along the railings.

Downstairs, the two-story living room got the same floor, with the planks running toward the big windows. Baseboards were reset on every wall.

AfterWhere the new floor meets bedroom carpet and bathroom tile, we set neat transition strips. They’re small, but they’re the difference between a floor that looks installed and one that looks finished.
